I have to hand it to Vi Hart. She is an Stony Brook University grad and recreational mathematician with real insight into the beauty of math and how it should be taught. Her You Tube Channel on Math Doodling is wildly popular and it is easy to see why. She has found a way to make math beautiful and fun with something as simple as Doodling. It is just another example of a non-professional "educator" coming up with a creative idea that makes a difficult and typically boring subject accessible and interesting. You can visit her web site to learn more about Math Doodling but I think this is a trend that is emerging thanks to the Internet and You Tube. If you want to see another example of what I mean, check out Salman Khan and Khan Academy. Khan Academy is aiming to become the world's first FREE Online School! I think Salman and Vi may be onto something that is being completely overlooked by the education establishment!
